Eric's friend Patrick tweeted this picture of them at age 5...
Here's where Eric's dorm is for next year...

Last week I got a call from Eric's coach saying there had been an accident and that Eric was in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. During practice, E and another player were fighting for the ball and the kid hit or elbowed Eric in the jaw. Eric somehow fell to the floor, and when he did, he hit his head and was knocked unconscious. A CT scan was normal. His blood sugar was dangerously low so an IV was placed, but other than that he was observed and released. He's missed a few games because of the strict concussion guidelines now in place, but he's hoping to play this weekend. As of two days ago he still had headaches when he shook his head even a little, so the trainer will make the final decision. The longer he waits before playing and lets it heal, the less likely he is to have post concussion syndrome, which is when symptoms continue and other problems occur.
His concussion was rated a high Grade 2, so moderate to severe.
Grade 1 (mild)
No loss of consciousness; post-traumatic amnesia* or post-concussion signs or symptoms lasting less than 30 minutes
Grade 2 (moderate)
Loss of consciousness lasting less than 1 minute; Post-traumatic amnesia* or post-concussion signs or symptoms lasting longer than 30 minutes but less than 24 hours
Grade 3 (severe)
Loss of consciousness lasting more than 1 minute or post-traumatic amnesia* lasting longer than 24 hours; Post-concussion signs or symptoms lasting longer than 7 days
He'll be fine. I really like the trainer, whom I met while visiting E's current school. He's knowledgable about concussions and cares a lot about the kids.
We're so proud of E, and excited for next year! Go Eagles! #dunkcity
