Dogs v. Cars

DeSmet lost their first game on Friday.  Here's the stats link for that game against Chaminade:

After finding a seat in the gym before the game, I went out to my car to get my video camera and there were a hundred people outside who weren't allowed in because the game was sold out.

It was crazy.
Bradley Beal, the Chaminade player who is #7 in the nation, got a technical during the game for talking smack, and then a bit later he hung on the rim for a few seconds after a dunk.  He should have gotten another tech for that, but they didn't call it. If they had he would have been thrown out of the game, which would have incited a riot for sure.

The next game is tonight against St. Charles West.  I'll post updates for that game tomorrow.  Eric came home from school today with a migraine.  If he isn't at school for at least half a day he isn't allowed to play in the game.  He slept for two hours and went back in time to be there a half day.

On Friday I walked dogs at Stray Rescue for 3 1/2 hours.  I took pictures of every one of the 15 dogs I walked, but I'll spare you and only share a few :)

This is Gladiola, one of my favorites...

She was a bait dog and had one of her eyes removed, but she has the sweetest personality. I love her.

Me and Whisper

Rizzoli, another awesome, sweet dog

So I drive home after picking up dog poop all morning
I have no make up on
I've got on boots, a raggedy old jacket and jeans
My hair is in a ponytail and I smell like a dog kennel
But I've just had the BEST day EVER
There's nothing else I'd rather do than spend time with the pups

As I pull into my driveway

This is what my husband is doing...

Lining up his cars and taking pictures of them

Can you say "different worlds"?

Now if we could just find a way to incorporate our passions :)

I think Eric inherited mine...

Video - DeSmet vs Vianney 12-8-10

Eric was told yesterday that because he is missing practice on December 23rd he won't be able to play in the first tournament game which is on December 27th.  Eric said, "That's fine.  Gotta see my family at Christmas!"  The coach said, "I just want you to know it's not a punishment," and Eric said, "I understand."

If it's not a punishment, what is it?  He'll be at the December 26th practice.  Oh well, I guess those are the rules.  I know Eric would rather be with family and not be here with just the two of us on Christmas Day, so that's just the way it goes.

I'm excited about tomorrow's game against Chaminade and Bradley Beal, who is ranked #7 in the country.  They'll be tough to beat and the crowd will be HUGE!

I leave you with a picture of my little friend Katie and Eric's ginormous size 16 shoe that was in the car.  Katie had never seen anything like it and wanted me to take "their" picture.

It Must Be Love...

DeSmet beat Vianney last night.  Here are last night's stats:

I took video of Eric and will try to post that later today or tomorrow.

Here are the stats from Friday night's game. You should be able to click on the image to enlarge it.

I thought of Krista, who has our cat Milo, when I saw this in a magazine. Milo follows her around and wants to be by her side at all times.  This would have been a great gift for her.

This looks just like him too.  Or at least he used to look like this.  We adopted him at 6 months old.  He's 10 now and not doing well.  He's lost a lot of weight, has fluid around his lungs and is struggling to breathe. Krista is taking him to the vet this morning. We're hoping to say goodbye to him when we go to California at Christmas, but not if it means he has to suffer. He's been the best cat to Eric and me and to Krista and her kids.  We love you, Miles!

I've been obsessed with a pitbull puppy in the city who has been tied up and left out in the rain and snow (it snowed on Thanksgiving Day) with no shelter for the past two weeks and who knows how long before that.  She was finally rescued by a volunteer at Stray Rescue, where I walk dogs.  This guy was so persistent with the Humane Society, the police, and Animal Control, and everyone kept blowing him off and telling him they were working on it.  In the meantime, the puppy was freezing.  It broke my heart!  I don't understand what is wrong with people.  And that, my friends, is why I'm not a people person.

Meet Noelle...

Here is a picture he took of her tied up in the yard.  How nice that they gave her a bed to sleep on in the rain and snow...

Allelulia (below) is one of the dogs I walk at Stray Rescue.  Isn't he cute?

My sweet Stella snoozing...

Gotta run.  Going to walk dogs at Stray Rescue.  It's 18 degrees outside.

It must be love, that's all I can say :)
