My book blog now has its own home. Please visit me at LYNNE'S BOOK REVIEWS. Of course you're more than welcome to see what's going on in my personal life, but if you want to talk books, that's where I'll be!

SUNDAY SALON

What a beautiful Sunday here in St. Louis. Finally the sun is shining. I'm off to get a massage right now (sore neck), but here's what's going on in my reading world.

I don't know why I bother announcing on my blog what I'm going to read in the coming week because I never end up reading those books. Well, some of them I do, but not all. This week there were 3 different books I started reading and just put them aside because I wasn't in the mood for them. For me, it's all about the mood :) Gotta be in the mood for a certain book. I started A Tree Grows in Brooklyn; too long - 500 pages - and just didn't feel like reading a big book. Then I picked up Running to the Mountain by John Katz. Didn't feel like reading that. Then I got Girl Meets God from the library hold list; didn't feel like starting that since I just read Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom. Stray Affections came in the mail yesterday from Goodreads, and it seemed lighthearted and easy to read, so that's what I started last night.

What about you? Does your mood affect your book choices?

Completely and totally! I have had books on my shelves for years because I know I really want to read them but yet I pick different books up left and right totally on a whim based on my mood that day. I have discovered some of my favoite authors that way. Jodi Picoult and Beth Gutcheon are two that come to mind.
I needed a book for the train quick and I saw The Pact by Jodi Picoult and I was hooked!

I Lynne, I totally relate! Thanks for stopping by my blog today - I love yours! Seems like you have a great family :)

About Rattled! - I followed her blog on Glamour for some time, so I knew I'd read the book when it came out. My mom was a single mother to my sister and I - don't know how she did it!

My moods affect everything, including whether or not I yell at my computer, so yes. I usually have several books going at once and I move forward with the one that best suits my mood, or fits in my handbag, or I find in the bathroom, or ....

Hm. Perhaps other things affect the course of my reading too! :-)

Curious: Did Stray Affections fit your mood or reading taste?

Hi Charlene, I haven't gotten to Stray Affections yet, but I will. I keep getting notices from the library that books are ready to pick up and I try to get to those first. My hold list is winding down, though, so I should be getting to Stray Affections soon!
