Books / Swine Flu

BOOKS

No book reviews today. I'm reading Girl Meets God by Lauren Winner, which I got from the library. I like her writing style - very witty, with short sentences - and an interesting topic. The author talks about her conversion to Christianity after being raised Jewish. I'll write a review when I'm finished.

I was notified by the library that Olive Kitteridge is ready to pick up, so that will be coming up somewhere in the reading schedule.

PERSONAL

Eric has the swine flu. It wasn't confirmed, but the doctor is pretty sure he has it, based on his symptoms, and put him on Tamiflu. He started coughing after his basketball game Monday night and woke up with a bad sore throat, achiness, cough and today also had a fever. The doctor said he can still go to California on Friday if he feels well enough to travel and that Larry and I are probably immune because the virus was around in the 70's. Hopefully he'll get over it quickly.

My dad and Trudy are in St. Martin right now :) I wish I were there with them basking in the sun, sipping pina coladas.

Yesterday was such a pretty day. Larry and I took the Harley out for a long ride, then went to see his dog-niece Lula the English bulldog puppy, who looks and snorts like a little piglet...she is so cute! We rode a little more, then stopped for frozen custard. Peanut butter of course. Mmm, mmm! Perfect, perfect day.

Oh no, I hope your son feels better quickly! The schools are offering vaccines. I do not know anything about them. Having teens I no longer worried about vaccines. Maybe I should ask our family doctor.

Thanks Jennifer. I know his school keeps saying they're going to get it, but they haven't yet. Too late for us now!

Teens and younger kids are who should be getting the vaccine first; them and health care workers. I would definitely ask your doctor.
