My book blog now has its own home. Please visit me at LYNNE'S BOOK REVIEWS. Of course you're more than welcome to see what's going on in my personal life, but if you want to talk books, that's where I'll be!

Well, Eric did not make the baseball team. He was a little bummed but knew he wasn't a great hitter and also some of these kids can throw really hard, so he wasn't surprised. So on he moved to....

BASKETBALL

At 4:00 today he tried out for the St. Louis Eagles. They are the best AAU team in the nation. Last year they won the National Championships.

Here is their schedule from last year.

They play all over the country. Blake Ahearn and Tyler Hansbrough played for them.

Anyway, Eric tried out for them at 4:00 and made the first cuts. 60 kids tried out (not that it matters, but only 10 were white). They were alley-ooping and dunking. It was crazy. So Eric was very proud of himself for even making it through to tomorrow. His friend Mike, who plays for DeSmet's maroon team, got cut tonight. He's really good too, so I was surprised. They are both trying out for a different team (Gateway) tomorrow from 12 - 2. The Eagles' second tryouts is from 4 - 6. Then there is another team called the Majestics that Eric is trying out for and that is on Monday or Tuesday. So Eric is preoccupied with basketball right now, which is good. Doesn't have time to be sad about not making baseball.

Will let you know how tomorrow goes. His hopes aren't too high for making the Eagles, but again, he's happy to have made first cuts. It was a great experience for him.

P.S. Here I thought he was tall until I walked into that gym. Wow. They're ALL tall!
