Anyone reading this is in for it because I'm kind of bored, so get ready to groan:
First, you'll all be glad to know that I have given up sugar. Larry's dad told me a story about how his brother, Ellis, a doctor, told him many years ago that he should quit smoking. Ellis took him to the hospital where he worked and showed him people who smoked and were dying of lung cancer. And he quit the next day, just like that. I thought, if he can quit smoking, surely I can stop eating sugar. I seriously am a sugar addict, so to me they seem comparable. My friend Kay and I ate a pack of Skittles every day at work for I don't know how many years. One time we tried to "give them up" and we lasted for maybe a week. I am going on two weeks without sugar now. Those of you who know the severity of my sugar addiction I'm sure are just flabbergasted. I quit. Cold turkey. No twelve-step my-name-is-Lynne-and-I-am-an-addict program or anything. I must admit I tried for a couple of days to read food labels and not eat ANYTHING with sugar on the label. Do you KNOW how hard that is? Everything has sugar in it! That was way too drastic. But I haven't had a piece of chocolate or even a yogurt covered raisin in 2 weeks. I can't say I've lost any weight, but I do feel a little better. You know, when I think about it, I'm not even sure WHY I went on this no-sugar diet anyway? I guess to say that I COULD? Boy, that's dumb.
The other big news is that I worked out yesterday for the first time since...um, let me get out last year's calendar and flip back a bit...oh, here it is...since November. I don't even know why I stopped. I think it was something to do with the holidays and being busy. Good one, huh? I DO know why I didn't start up again. It was because I got sick with a nasty cough and cold. But that lasted for only three weeks, so I'm not sure what my excuse was after that. I'm sure it was good, though. Maybe something about all the ironing I had to do.
This is even more spectacular than my sugar-free diet and exercise news but along the same lines: Eric has gained 8 1/2 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks! How did he do it? I don't know, but I'll be sure not to follow HIS diet, which is probably the Ben and Jerry's Cinnamon Bun Ice Cream Diet. It's easy to follow. Just eat 2 pints a day and you'll gain weight in no time. Really, though, he's been following that regimen for months, so I'm not sure why it's suddenly kicked in.
Until next time...(I know, you're just dying to read some more of my exciting news. LOL)
